What I Wore This Month – March Edition

Well, this month was certainly a quiet one and this is certainly going to continue into April, as I’m in isolation. However, the one outfit I did wear this month is amazing, so I’m excited to share it all with you!

I share with you the simple retro outfit I wore for Fashions on the Field, in the March edition of "What I Wore This Month"!
Fashions on the Field – Rose of York

Headband: Custom Made
Dress: Evans & Co
Shoes: Betts
Bag: Colette
Jewellery: Lovisa

This outfit is from the start of March, where I entered my second Fashions on the Field competition. It was for the Rose of York race day at York and I would say it was slightly less competitive than Magic Millions Day FOFT at Pinjarra (where I wore my Review dress). Out of 10 competitors, I finished fourth.

If you love retro clothes, then you’re in luck, because it is definitely making a comeback at the moment. However, this outfit all started with the mini tote. As soon as Mum saw it at Colette, we knew it was a FOTF bag. We wanted the bag to stand out, so we opted for a simple (haha but not so simple to make) straight-line dress. Originally, we were going to go with a white collar but decided not to. We didn’t want to add another colour in and because I’m sitting down, the pink torso does get lost so that collar helps to bring the pink out.

As the dress is a retro style, we were unsure which one of my fascinators would go with it. We were thinking of a pillbox shape but unfortunately, they were a bit hard to find in stores. This is where Mum had a brain wave and brought out this pearl headband (with headbands and pearls being very on-trend at the moment). It was the headband that she wore at her wedding nearly thirty years ago, so yes, eventually everything comes back into fashion.

From there, everything just flowed. I went with small pearl earrings, necklace and ring all to tie in with the headband. I was a bit limited in my shoe choice, but these white heels do match the white pearls. As the headband was a statement in itself, we decided on straight hair and simple pink tones in my makeup.

While I didn’t win, I still love this outfit. I’m also a big believer in being able to wear my FOTF outfits again and this dress would be perfect for the workplace.

So, I hope you like this outfit as much as I do! I also had nails which matched my bag completely, so check out that #ManiMonday post if you’re interested.
