What I Wore This Month – August Edition
When I was scrolling through to see what outfits I wore this month, it certainly felt like I went out more than two times, but there you go! In this August edition of “What I Wore This Month”, I share with you two monochromatic and yellow racing outfits.

Top: Valley Girl
Pants: Valley Girl
Cape: Evans & Co
Hat: From my wardrobe (no brand label on hat)
Bag: Colette
Boots: Novo
Jewellery: Lovisa
I’ll start by saying that this is one of my favourite outfits that I’ve worn for a while. It just feels very on-trend and I love the New York vibe that it’s throwing. This outfit all started with the tartan cape. Capes are heaps easier to get on me as I don’t have to navigate my arms through jackets. Currently, I only had a black and a white cape, which are both fake furs, so I wanted something different. This woven woollen material is from Spotlight and it could have easily looked like a picnic blanket. That’s why Mum and I decided to add the black feather trim, just to make it a little bit dressier.
Once that was decided the rest of the outfit just came together. This particular day Clairvoyance was racing, which meant that I wanted a touch of yellow and/or red in my outfit. My red velvet pants weren’t the right style and I don’t have yellow pants, so this meant the colour was going to come from my jumper. For some reason, my yellow jumper looked better, so I went with that one. When it came to my pants, I seem to wear black a lot in winter, so instead, I went with white pants. This balanced the cape nicely and make this outfit look crisp and edgy.
Then we got to my accessories. For my handbag, I was originally going to go with my mustard tote as it too as a New York edgy vibe. However, after Mum asking how I felt about pattern matching to the cape and brought out this bag, I was like yes that’s perfect! My black hat and boots are also not only on-trend but also complimented the black in the cape. I finished off the outfit with gold accessories to match my jumper.

Pants: Valley Girl
Jacket: Dotti
Beret: Valley Girl
Bag: Colette
Boots: Betts
Jewellery: Lovisa
Shocked face, we have another yellow and monochromatic outfit. This time I was limited to these colours as I had two horses racing, Clairvoyance whose silks are yellow and red and Weaponson whose silks are yellow and orange. I like to push the fashion boundaries but there was no way I was going to wear all three of those colours together, so I went with just yellow, so I didn’t favour a particular horse.
This particular day it was cold, so I went with warmth when deciding what to wear. This cream jumper is my ultimate winter jumper as it’s nice and thick, so I went with that. I also went with my knee-high black boots as they are my warmest winter shoe. With no yellow pants or jacket, I brought in my pop of yellow with my handbag.
The jacket and pant decision was a little bit more difficult. However, I did just get this black suede jacket from Dotti and this was the perfect excuse to wear it. I love it because it has some stretch to it, which makes it easier to get on than a leather biker jacket (I love it so much that I have it maroon as well!). With a mostly black outfit, I added a touch of interest with pattern pants. As the pattern is black and white, it ties in with my jacket and jumper. Lastly, for my headwear, I tossed up between this beret and my yellow beanie, but this beret just looked a bit dressier and complimented the overall outfit better.
So, I hope you like these winter racing outfits. As you can see through this post and July’s “What I Wore This Month”, I do tend to repeat certain elements throughout winter just because warmth tends to be my first priority and finding different winter pieces is hard. However, by mixing and matching pieces you can create lots of different looks!
