A new year and the start of a new book in your life story! I didn’t have time to do my nails this week, so this is a throwback to a design I did last year.
My friend had a Disney themed birthday party, so I went as Snow White. I didn’t have any apple designs back then though (and it may have even been too much with my whole outfit), so I opted for a storybook look. I was originally going to go with a distressed look, achieved by sponging a light brown polish onto my nail. However, when I did a sample, it didn’t look as good in real life as it did in my head (which is sometimes the case). It came out looking dirty rather than distressed, so we ended up going with a white base and a very very pale pink, just so the white wasn’t too stark and to give my nails more of a page like look.
This design is a classic case of stamping polishes being worth their weight in gold. I got this plate before I got my first lot of stamping polishes and back then there were certain images that would hardly pick up at all. This was one of them, mostly because the writing is very skinny in some places. However, from memory, we didn’t have any issues getting this image to pick up with the stamping polish.
Looking back, this is one of my favourite nail designs that I have done, as it’s classic and simple. It’s also quick to recreate if you cut out some of the base colours. This design is perfect for English teachers or storybook dress-ups.
Bye for now!
