Saturday marked the start of my busy racing season and with Saturday being Derby Day, the theme was black and white. As always, my nails matched my dress, which you’ll be able to see later in the month.

I haven’t had black on my nails in ages, so that was a nice change. While the theme was black and white, my support worker and I decided to stamp in silver for two reasons. The first was that a white stamp would be quite the contrast against the black and that look may be too in your face. The second was that the flowery lace on my dress threw more silvery tones than white.

This design was fairly easy to pick up and there were only a few pickups that weren’t good enough to stamp. This was mostly because this stamping polish is very opaque and on the thicker side, both because it was already a thick polish to start with and now it’s getting older. To ensure this wasn’t an issue, we just made sure there was lots of polish on the plate. Due to the round shape of the flowers too, a squish technique (where you just press the stamper straight onto the nail) worked better than a roll technique (where you roll the stamper across the nail), as the squish technique ensured that the flowers didn’t distort.

I really love this design and it got lots of compliments on the day.

Bye for now!
