Sorry everyone, I had some personal things pop up this week, so I didn’t have time to do an in-depth preview. Hopefully, I’ve still tipped a few winners though. I have also included my thoughts on The Velvet King.

The Velvet King isn’t in my top four (before Gatting got scratched), but I do think he can run a good race. The biggest thing that I’m looking for is for him to jump well, because that really has cost him the wins in his past three starts. As we saw in the Kingston Town too (his only run beyond 1600m), if he gets too far back then it’s basically game over. I worry that 2000m is simply too long for him, especially when some of the horses in the field are proven stayers. We won’t know if he’ll handle the distance till we try though and at least he’ll appreciate the rain.

The lack of time I’ve spent doing the form does make me nervous but then sometimes my best work comes when I don’t overthink things. I’m mostly concerned about races 1, 6 and 9 where I’ve tipped an outsider. I also seem to have tipped either the favourite or a value tip which always makes me nervous as well.
