Confidence rating
There are a few nice races to start the year off with. Races 3, 7 and 9 look to be particularly even while I wouldn’t be surprised to see an upset in the cup. In terms of The Velvet Queen, I think the market is correct in this being a two horse race. Alsephina steps up to 1800m for the first time but should get a lovely spot from barrier 4. On the other hand, 1800m shouldn’t be an issue for The Velvet Queen but if lady luck isn’t on her side, then we could find ourselves in a bit of trouble which will benefit Alsephina. I’m hoping that I’m wrong, but Alsephina is one classy horse.
